Mountain View Regional Emergency Services

The Mountain View Regional Emergency Services Commission (MVRES) provides Advanced Life Support (ALS) Emergency Medical Services (EMS) to Mountain View County, the Towns of Olds, Didsbury, Carstairs, Sundre and the Village of Cremona.  The service is municipally owned and operated and is governed by a Board of Directors, which is made up of elected representatives from each of the member municipalities.

The Commission commenced operations in October of 2000 and received its official Order in Council in May of 2001.  Click here for more information about the Commission.

Service coverage is provided 24 hours a day, 7 days per week. The scheduled rotation includes a shift that is 2 days on (48 hours) followed by 4 days off, or a peak time shift that is operational during week days between 0730 hour and 1730 hour.  We also have a peak ambulance in Carstairs, which is operational 7 days a week, 12 hours per day.

The STARS Emergency Link Center provides call answering and dispatching for Mountain View Regional Emergency Services.  This is accomplished by using Medical Priority Dispatch, which is a recognized method of emergency medical dispatching.  All radio communications are accomplished using a state of the art Hub UHF/VHF System that ties together all Fire and EMS services in our area of response.

Our Vision

"Exceptional Care for Our Community"

Our Response Area

The Mountain View Regional Emergency Services Commission is responsible for the delivery of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) for the entire Mountain View County and the municipalities that are located in the County.   The response area is 3,805.06 square kilometres with a population of 30 570.   Advanced Life Support Ambulances are stationed in the Towns of Didsbury,  Carstairs,  Olds and Sundre.

The Fire Departments in our coverage area offer First Responder services.  These First Responders provide basic life support care under the direction of the Mountain View Regional Emergency Services' Medical Director.  These services are a crucial link in the delivery of patient care in the Chain of Survival.

We also share mutual aid with the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) who border our County. These include Guardian Ambulance (Innisfail area), Airdrie EMS/Fire, Cochrane EMS/Fire, Kneehill EMS (Three Hills area) and Caroline EMS.
